However, Atlético were more effective where it counts: they generated more shots (13 to 8) and more shots on target (5 to 3).
In terms of discipline, Real Sociedad committed more fouls (13 to 9) and picked up more yellow cards (2 to 1), while neither team saw a red card. Atlético also came out ahead in saves (3 to 2), a sign that, despite having less of the ball, they created real danger on the home side's goal.

Our take
In our view, the final 0-3 scoreline ends up being misleading with respect to what the match showed for most of its duration. Real Sociedad stood up to their opponents with the ball and generated a rhythm of play that didn't match the eventual gap in the result.
Atlético de Madrid, however, showed a knack for managing the game and stepping up in decisive moments that proved crucial. The substitutions made in the second half, especially the introduction of Jonathan David, appear to have had a direct impact on how the match was resolved.
For Real Sociedad, this result deepens a difficult situation in the standings that warrants attention, while Atlético add a win that keeps them firmly in the upper half of the table, though still far from the positions that determine the top spots.
