Getafe and Deportivo de La Coruña drew 1-1 at the Estadio Coliseum, in a clash in which the azulones took the lead thanks to a goal from Ramón Terrats, but were unable to hold onto the advantage against a rival that controlled the ball with authority for much of the match.

The game got underway with Getafe wary of early bookings: first Iván Azón was shown a yellow card in the 26th minute, and a minute later Deportivo responded with a card for Lucas Noubi. Before the break, in the 42nd minute, Enes Ünal was also cautioned, leaving the home side with three players on yellow cards in the first half.

In stoppage time, Mario Martín received the match's last yellow card.

The statistics leave a striking detail: despite trailing on the scoreboard for part of the match, Deportivo dominated possession by a wide margin, with 64% compared to Getafe's 36%. Getafe, on the other hand, remain stuck in the lower reaches of the table, in 14th place with just 5 points after five matchdays (1 win, 2 draws and 2 defeats), with a negative goal difference of -3. The point earned against Deportivo continues a recent trend for the azulones, who had already drawn against Celta Vigo in their previous home outing.
Our take
In our view, the final result is consistent with what was shown on the pitch: Deportivo, despite failing to win, showed a clear sense of footballing superiority reflected in their possession and passing volume, while Getafe relied on clinical efficiency, embodied in Terrats' goal, in an attempt to take all three points.
The draw leaves mixed feelings. For Deportivo, picking up a point away from home against a direct rival in the fight for the upper-middle table is not a bad result, especially considering their recent positive run. For Getafe, however, letting a lead slip on their own ground once again highlights the team's difficulty in closing out matches, a problem clearly reflected in their league position and one that, if not corrected, could seriously complicate their aspirations in the coming matchdays.
