FC Juárez pulled off a surprise this Friday at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez, beating Tigres UANL 2-0, a result that snaps a negative streak for the border club and deals a blow to the aspirations of the Monterrey-based felines in the Liga BBVA MX.
How the match unfolded
The match was evenly matched in terms of shots, though with clear nuances in ball control: Tigres UANL dominated possession with 58% compared to FC Juárez's 42%, while also generating more corners (9 to 2) and more completed passes (376 to 270).

Our take
In our view, this result should be read with caution for FC Juárez. While the win snaps a losing streak — they had previously fallen to Santos, Pachuca, Toluca and América — the possession and passing numbers suggest Tigres UANL remains a superior side in terms of game control.
Efficiency, however, made the big difference, and the penalty converted by Estupiñán ended up being the turning point in a match that could have slipped away given the visitors' territorial dominance.
For Tigres UANL, this defeat adds to a run of inconsistent results — they had come off three consecutive draws before this loss — confirming that the Monterrey side is going through a rough patch despite moving the ball better than their rivals.
Ultimately, we believe FC Juárez will need to repeat this defensive solidity and clinical finishing to think about climbing the table, while Tigres UANL will need to correct the lack of cutting edge that is keeping them away from the top positions.
