We find it significant that the scoreline remained untouched until the closing stages, suggesting a match of physical and tactical attrition that tipped in the home side's favor at just the right moment, with the goals from Igor Thiago and Fábio Carvalho arriving within a window of just seven minutes.
We believe this result strengthens Brentford's case as one of the surprise packages of this early season, already sitting in a European qualification spot, while Chelsea will need to address their lack of cutting edge if they hope to climb a table that, for now, leaves them at a distance from the top positions.
