Tigres UANL beat Puebla 1-0 this Saturday at the Estadio Universitario, in a Liga BBVA MX fixture that was settled by a penalty converted by Juan Brunetta in the second half. The feline win, though narrow on the scoreboard, was built on a clear dominance in possession and attacking threat, while Puebla failed to generate the offensive volume needed to seriously trouble the home side's goal.
How the match unfolded

Our analysis
In our view, Tigres UANL's win was deserved given the dominance they exerted for much of the match, reflected in the possession numbers, the shots on target and, above all, in the corners, where Puebla could not even manage a single one. Brunetta's penalty ended up being the difference between two sides that, in the standings, are not where their squads and their football suggest they should be.
For Tigres UANL, this result represents an important morale boost amid an inconsistent campaign that has left them in the lower half of the table. However, the negative goal difference the felines are carrying suggests there is still work to be done to build a positive run of form.
For Puebla, the defeat cuts short a possible response following the draw against Atlante, and makes clear that, despite competing on equal terms in several statistical categories, offensive efficiency remains an outstanding issue for the side that visited the Estadio Universitario today.
